About Studio Ekta
MEET THE ARTIST
Our Business
Studio Ekta really comes from my love for things that are made slowly and with care. I’ve always been drawn to traditional techniques, the kind where you can feel the human hand in every piece.
At the heart of the studio is functional pottery for the home. I take my time with each one, thinking about balance, texture, and how it feels in your hand as much as how it looks on the table. Studio Ekta also now is a part of London Potters Association.
I also work with hand-printed home textiles and paper goods, using traditional Indian block printing. These are time-honoured processes to create things that feel joyful, ethical, and personal. I choose small scale as I care deeply about skill, story, and sustainability.
The idea is simple really. Make fewer things. Make them well. Let craft lead.

My story in my words
I’m Ekta, based in South London. Using my hands and being creative is what keeps me grounded and motivated. I grew up in India with a mother who is incredibly creative and she valued handmade over machine-made, individual over industrial, that mindset shaped me from a very young age.
Pottery found me as a teen, and I spent time learning in a local artist’s studio in Mumbai. I also went on to study Textile Design, which deepened my love for pattern, colour, and surface.
Then life happened. I moved to the UK and built a career in banking, but this dream was alive. Years later, a friend, a potter, nudged me back into it and I picked up where I’d left off.
A period of extreme bad health and low energy forced me to slow, but it also pushed me back towards my textile roots. I rediscovered my old Indian wood blocks and started playing around with them. One experiment led to another, and Studio Ekta began to take shape.
Our block-printed paper goods are made using traditional Indian printing techniques. Each piece is printed by hand, resulting in subtle variations that make every item unique. The process values rhythm, care, and repetition, rather than perfection.
Designed for everyday use, these are paper goods meant to be written in, painted in, stored in. Hopefully, they bring colour and craft into your day and as much as they have given me as a maker.
Made in small batches, each piece reflects a respect for material, process, and the pleasure of using something thoughtfully made.

Block Printing

Our workshops offer a relaxed, hands-on introduction to working with clay and traditional block printing.
You’ll learn through doing, guided through the process while leaving room for exploration, curiosity, and personal expression.
The workshops are small and no previous experience is needed, just an openness to making and taking your time.
These sessions are less about perfect outcomes and more about the experience of craft and enjoying the process.
Workshops
I create simple, functional pottery for everyday life.
Each piece is shaped by hand, with care given to form, balance, and the way it feels in use. The work is bright, colourful and considered, allowing subtle textures and natural finishes to take centre stage.
Made in small batches, the pottery is designed for daily rituals, from morning coffee to shared meals. These are pieces to live with, to return to often, and to enjoy over time.

SUSTAINABILITY
Responsible
Production
All pieces are handmade in small batches to avoid overproduction. Clay is recycled when pieces don’t meet quality standards, and processes are continually refined to reduce material waste.
Our studio uses solar energy whenever possible, and kiln firings are carefully batched to minimise energy use.
Materials &
Sourcing
Where possible, we source materials responsibly, favouring natural, low-impact, or recyclable options.
Our printed goods and textiles use completely recycled paper or cotton-waste paper. We work with suppliers and makers who share our values around ethical production and fair working practices.
Packaging &
Shipping
We use minimal, recyclable, or reusable packaging wherever possible while ensuring products are protected in transit.
Continuous
Improvement
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey. As Studio Ekta grows, we are committed to reviewing and improving our practices where practical and meaningful.
